21days in WANNUNE; PART2
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Waking up before the Nigerian flag is raised and going to sleep hours after the flag is brought down became my new routine, which I did diligently for some days...
I couldn't cry, as there was no tear in my eyes, my roommate helped me up, as I could barely raise my arm, neither could I move my legs but I didn't want to look weak on my first day, I dragged my body and soul to the parade ground. After the introduction we were directed to complete registrations, in the course of all of this, I had forgotten my right arm was paralyzed, as I immediately adapted to using my left arm and hiding pain is my thing (thus it wasn't so hard to doπ).
Completed my registration late in the afternoon, just when I thought I had the rest of the day to myself, I heard the trumpet again, I sat in my bunk confused and I couldn't fight the tears forming in my eyes but I was to told to save the tears as I will be needing it in coming days..... Rubbed my paralyzed arm with my balm, took analgesic and changed to the compulsory white on white, the sun was out of the ordinary, my can, couldn't. . For the first 5 days, I ate from vendors, trying to be the big girl I wasn't π, but when sapa struck I had to eat from the kitchen, but I kid you not, when I say, I had to go back to eating from vendors, na me know wetin my eye seeπ₯².........
We were arranged according to our platoon, I fell in the ever amazing platoon 8 π§π, and thus the drilling began.......So many right turns and left turns, sideways and turn around, I learnt new slangs, some of which were annoying, but what could my dangerous self doπ, with time it became a thing of fun and my complaints reduced, although everything was regimented, but you know the saying that "nothing good lasts forever" (someone say ghen ghen)π. That beautiful afternoon, as we all gathered, waiting to take instructions as usual, I noticed the massive turn out of military men, only if I knew what was coming, I'd have gone to the clinic ππ, we were interrupted with a cool and unfamiliar voice, "Gentlemen, corp member", a lot of wordings followed and a whole lot of punishment for a sin commited by one person, this was my second visit to heaven in wannune π.,..We were asked to face the sun, beg our creatorπ, hands sideways and even another I prefer not to say, there and then I realized what the orientation camp is forππ₯², thank God for clinic and the ever amazing physiotherapist that attended to me, man was sooooo niceπππ₯², the ring on his finger made the crush that was building up inside dieππ₯².
